St. John's Welcomes YOU!

Standing on the Truth of God's Word Since 1840!

St. John's Welcomes You!!!

St. John's Lutheran Church is an old congregation -- the second oldest Lutheran Church in Wisconsin. But we have a fresh spirit. God has blessed us with a friendly atmosphere, a rich worship life and a full program of activities for spiritual growth, fellowship and service.

We do all things under the guidance of God's Word. We joyfully proclaim Jesus Christ as our crucified and risen Savior.

Our Mission

  • To glorify Jesus Christ, our only Savior, by pure teaching and holy living.
  • To use the Gospel in Word and Sacrament to bring people to faith in Christ.
  • To comfort troubled sinners with the Gospel so that they are sure of Christ’s forgiveness and salvation both now and for eternity.
  • To confess the one, true, apostolic Christian faith to our congregation, our community and our world.

What is a Church Really All About?

Sometimes individual congregations struggle with an identity crisis. They know that the Apostle Paul said, "I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some." (1 Corinthians 9:22) They want to be everything and do everything but they find it is impossible to please all the people all the time.

But is that what church is really all about? Sure, programs, activities and pleasing personalities are blessings for any congregation. But the church is really about something far more important. The church is all about Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. Jesus loved us. Jesus gave His life to pay for all our sins. Jesus guides and protects us every day with his loving Presence. Jesus will come back to earth one and take His believers to eternal life in heaven.

The Apostle Paul who said, "I have become all things to all men," also said in the same letter of 1 Corinthians, "For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified." (1 Corinthians 2:2)

When a Christian congregation focuses its time, efforts and ministries on proclaiming Christ crucified, then it becomes all things to all people, because Jesus is all things to all people. And that's what the church is really all about.
